Kevin R. Hart was sworn in as Mayor of the Town of St. George on January 13, 2020. He is a dedicated public servant who is passionate about improving services, enhancing quality of life, and strengthening the overall well-being of the citizens of Saint George.
Kevin Hart graduated from St. George High School in the Class of 1978. He continued his education at the University of South Carolina, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Risk Management, Insurance, and Marketing in 1982. He began his career with Independent Life in 1983 and earned numerous awards during his 33 years of service. In 2018, he started his own agency with his brother, Hart’s Financial, LLC. He was also a partner with his brother at St. George Martial Arts from 1997 to 2026.
He is married to Rhonda W. Hart and has two children, Craig A. Westbury (Marla B. Westbury) and Leanne W. Minus (Jeffery S. Minus). He also has four grandchildren: Clinton J. Westbury, Katherine (Katey) Westbury, Corinne (Rinn) Westbury, and Claudia Westbury.
Before becoming Mayor, he served on the Town’s Planning Commission for 13 years. He currently serves on the Dorchester County Economic Development Board, as well as the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of the Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Governments. He is also a member of the Municipal Association of South Carolina and the South Carolina Mayors Association, and a graduate of the Municipal Elected Officials Institute of Government (2021) and the Advanced Municipal Elected Officials Institute of Government (2024).
